July 27th, 2008 - Monitored Alarm

Last night I awoke to an odd noise in my home. This is never a fun moment. You’re stirred from a peaceful sleep and darkness surrounds you. Of course your family is scattered between several different bedrooms, sleeping as well. My reaction was to slip quickly out of bed, snag my Surefire flashlight and a tactical fixed blade, and check out the home. Thankfully there was nothing amiss. It’s funny how our minds work this way. We literally adapt to “normal” noises while we sleep. A dripping faucet or our spouse using the restroom is to be expected and we can sleep through these sounds. We’re used to them. However, when an unfamiliar sound resonates, our minds jolt us out of a deep sleep. It’s an innate defense mechanism. Unfortunately it’s not 100 percent. I’ve seen some folks sleep through virtually everything. This is where a monitored alarm comes in handy. You can protect your home while you sleep with basic technology. Or should I say let someone else protect it?

A high-tech home security system can certainly offer peace-of-mind. When you’re away from the home, as you would be during the work-week or on vacation, a monitored alarm can keep all bad element out. Even if a burglar attempted a break-in, the monitored alarm system would notify security employees to come out and take a look immediately. You can hardly beat that grade of security while you’re away. And more importantly, a monitored alarm system like ADT can keep you and your family safe while you are home. Simply set your security system once you’re in the home, and let it do the rest. Although most criminals won’t bother with secured homes, if they should be so bold as to try, security professionals are notified and sent right away. You don’t even have to make a call.

When it comes to home security and alarm systems in this day and age, you have plenty to choose from. You may just be interested in a simple noisy alarm system that screams if the home is tampered with in any way from the exterior. However, there is an undeniable advantage to going all-out with a monitored alarm system. These definitely offer more protection since folks are literally watching out for you. Not to mention they’re ideal when you’re home is empty. There’s always someone keeping an eye out.
